THE PURPOSE:
Commuting in the wee hours of the morning means one thing in the winter — a warm winter jacket is a must. Not just any will do. As a commuter and consumer, I have serious requirements.
THE MUST-HAVES:
Polar Vortex is so last year with this Penfield Hoosac Parka purchased from J.Crew. Big pockets comfortably hold Blistex (a year round staple) and hobo gloves (a texter’s dream). Velcro pockets are a big no-no in my book as there’s nothing worse than having all your winter-wool accessories and sweaters stick, snag and snarl to Velcro. Opt for buttons and zipper pockets. The length of the Penfield Parka hits just above the knee which means no more cold thighs during sub-zero temps.
THE RESULTS:
Utility + Strength + Durability = Penfield. I couldn’t agree more when it’s bitterly cold during my 4:00 AM commute.
I think I’m getting to understand what this blog think is all about. That is saying a lot for an old guy.
Keep it up.
